Laser Hair Removal
Thanks to the advancement of technology laser hair removal has become one of the most popular methods of hair removal. Not only is it effective but the long term benefits are especially great.
Laser hair removal works to damage and disable individual hair molecules that are unwanted. Photothermolyis is used to work with laser hair removal. A laser pulse is sent onto the skin where energy is transmitted into heat that is targeted onto the hair follicle. Red and infrared lasers are the most common types used.
While laser hair removal is a great method of hair removal it is generally more effective among those with lighter skin with hair that is darker than the skin. This is because the laser in laser hair removal targets the melanin in the skin. This means that the hair that is darker than the skin color will get a greater proportion of the energy that the laser produces. Grey and white hair do not have melanin, so they will not get any of the energy.
While laser hair removal is effective it is best when multiple treatments are used. While growing hair will be easily targeted and handled dormant hairs, or telogen, will essentially begin to grow and become anagen follicles like growing hair. Between three weeks and three months after the treatment is handled new hair growth will be present. Therefore, it is best to have three laser treatments during a year so that the laser hair removal treatment will be more effective in the long term.
There are some places where laser hair treatment will be less resistant. The female face, armpits and bikini lines are the least resistant to laser hair removal. The scalp, back, arms and legs are more resistant though. It is best to have multiple treatments over a year for these areas so that the effects of the laser hair removal will be especially effective.
In most cases laser hair removal will help to significantly reduce the level of growth of certain hair molecules in the body. When the hair that grows slowly does come back it will be finer than it originally was. Planned treatments that occur every couple of months are common in these cases, but it is just as effective to get treatments when new hair growth does appear. However, the long terms results of planned treatments and new hair growth treatments are generally unknown at this time because it is especially difficult to determine which is better.
Laser hair removal, in short, is an especially great method to use for the removal of unwanted hair. Not only can laser hair removal be used on various parts of the body but it can be used at intervals that the person who uses it chooses. It is indeed a method of hair removal that is especially great for the long term.
